Email Implementation Checklist

 

Pre-Installation

Obtain name of SMTP server from local Email Administrator
Enable relaying for all users who will be emailing within Student Manager (contact your local Email Administrator for help with enabling relaying)
If necessary, edit anti-virus protection settings--some programs restrict relaying and/or the number of emails that can be sent at one time
If necessary, install Student Manager's Catalog Builder module
If using the Email Authentication option, have ready the user account information (i.e. user id and password) for entering during the install process
Have ready the default return email address that will be used if the user sending the emails doesn't have an email address entered in their user record
   

Installation

Obtain installation files from ACEware technician
Copy installation files into the Student Manager directory.
Run the XSetmail tool and enter information/set preferences
   

Student Manager Setup

Set email access levels for each Student Manager user
Edit email templates to meet your specific needs
   

User Interaction

Train staff in the use of the Email module
Users: edit user information and verify that email address and email signature has been entered in user record
Users: send test email to verify that relaying/authentication have been properly set up for the user (the easiest way to do this is to email an individual)
